Bryan Stovell

Chairman, Concert Band/Orchestra Division

For the past 38 years, MusicFest Canada "Hall of Famer" Bryan Stovell has taught music and guided some of Canada's best young musicians including Ingrid Jensen and Diana Krall. Bryan has served on the Jazz Report Committee, Vice-Chairman of the Instrumental Jazz Division for four years and Chairman of the Instrumental Jazz Division for two years. He has received the "B.C. Professional Music Educator's Award" and the "Excellence in Culture Award" from the City of Nanaimo. He adds these to previous awards including the IAJE "Best Director of Instrumental Jazz" and the "Marshall McLuhan Distinguished Teacher Award for British Columbia and Canada."

Bryan is former Chairman of the West Coast Festival and teaches bass and ensembles at Malaspina University-College.
